I am not empowered to raise assessments. That is a Board matter that requires a majority vote of the directors.

We met today to discuss the 2009 budget for the 3rd time. It will be finalized and approved at the November Board meeting.

All rumors on the budget are merely rumors.

Questions for Bob Crouch POA Board President (rfcrouc):

Would you tell the community how much you are going to raise the monthly assessment for 2009?

Is it true that you can raise it as high as $40.00 per month?

Thanks, for your reply.

I addressed the HOA Board in open session and described my four year effort to improve our working relationship. For three years I met monthly with the HOA President to discuss items of mutual interest and to explore ways we could team to improve Big Canoe for home owners and property owners.

For the past year the HOA has had a representative in all POA Work Sessions.

This working relationship has resulted in many joint efforts including:
-Adding a Community Center in West Dawson County in the SPLOST V package
-Purchasing equipment to upgrade our firefighting capabilities
-Keeping the Dawson County polling station on Hubbard Road

I asked the HOA Board to consider continuing this co-operation as opposed to some new adversary role. It was my impression and belief that all of the other HOA Board members favored continuing a POA/HOA partnership.

It is a crying shame that the POA has created an unofficial list of "troublesome" property owners who they have decided not to hold open discussions with. This is in complete opposition to their (Bob Crouch and Roger Klask) open comments that owners with questions must be given the opportunity to be given answers. Bob Crouch is on record as having told the HOA Board that if the HOA is considering playing the role of POA Oversight, that the HOA should carefully reconsider such a move. Could it be that Mr. Crouch considers himself and the Board as "untouchables" when it comes to being questioned and/or criticized for their business and financial decisions? Have we elected a "Governor" of the state of Big Canoe who is beyong reproach? So far, my experiences with Roger and Terry B. have been very negative and their demeanor on the arrogant side, to say the least. Questions coming from me, as a new BC resident, have resulted in my being called a "Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback" and "loose cannon"...simply because I was seeking answers to how and why POA actions were made in the Sconti re-build and the Marina project. Sad that the POA Board and Roger feel so threatened to reveal the truth and dismiss my request for additional meetings with Roger for more answers. With regard to folks offering their comments without identifying themselves, I say nonsense! Unsigned opinions and comments are useless. Be brave and willing to tell it like it is and then sign your name. I read a fantastic, reasonable and powerful article that I would liked to have followed up on, but the writer remaned nameless. Useless to contribute solid comments and not identify yourself to make the comments valid. Please stop this practice of speaking out behind a vail of secrecy. That's my opinion.
Big Mac, I had heard the very same comment as to a 'list" being kept and the threat that anyone on that list would not have an " ear" from anyone on the POA. Some of our "directors" are not behaving like adults and are losing control and not sleeping well at night, I think. God forbid we elected some of poor uality. Let's stick to the issues and keep the old world country threats out of
the process. Even our esteemed politicians in Washington can disagree but still
remain open to compromise without threats. If you like what they do, then vote yes. If not , VOTE NO and send it back for a re-do.

So sad...Joe McCarthy-like...

“Whatsoever you do to the least of my people, that you do unto me.”
(Matthew 25:40)

"Today, society does not talk about hell. It's as if it did not exist, but it does. There is eternal punishment for those who sin and do not repent." - Pope Benedict XVI

The tragedy of these times isn't so much of what the community suffers, but rather what we miss.
